Overview
Every manager knows that a commitment to training is essential for keeping their company competitive. Training benefits include: increased retention, increased morale, better morale, and improved skills.

In a 1998 Gallup survey, 8 out of 10 employees said that they would be more likely to stay with their employer if they were offered more or better training. Yet many companies still fail to invest in employee training even with the obvious benefits. Some employers fear that a trained, cross-functional employee is more attractive to a competitor. However, a more likely cause for turnover is dissatisfaction with the current job.

A happy employee is a productive employee—one who is loyal and will likely stay with your company as long as he or she can grow.
